Burger King Calories & Nutrition

Burger King has been around for a long time. Founded in 1954, the American quick Service chain celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. The first BK showed in the UK and 1973 and today there are around 300 stores nationwide. While Burger King may be one of the least expensive franchises around, offering value items for as little as 99p (for a Cheeseburger) many of the restaurant’s menu items are high on kcal and short on nutrition. There are, however, some better choices available to the nutrition conscious consumer who visits the franchise.

Burger King’s menu items include regular burgers, chicken sandwiches and strips, wraps, salads, breakfast items and deserts. Drink selections include smoothes and their signature Frappe coffee drinks. And, of course, the requisite sides are available in the form of onion rings or fries. Burger King offers special pricing for items in their King Deals Value Menu section and offers weekly and monthly specials and money saving vouchers.

Burger King does offer low calories entries like the Crispy Chicken Salad with 113 calories and only 2.9 grams of fat. Choose one of those and you can still have a small order of fries for a treat. Several of the breakfast sandwiches, like the Sausage Betty or the Bacon Betty can offer good quality protein with a low investment in calories and fat. A King Fish sandwich can be a good lunch or dinner option with only 498 calories and 27.9 grams of fat. On the other hand, the Double Steatkburger, while tasty, has a whopping (no pun intended) 955 calories and a disconcerting 59.3 grams of fat.

Unlike many of the quick serve chains, Burger King UK does not make its nutritional information available on its website. While the truncated nutritional information is available by hovering the curser over specific menu items, there is no general puff or table where consumers can readily find nutrition information
